Barkby Beach in Prestatyn, North Wales The Beaches Hotel
Barkby beach (Prestatyn) Located just to the east of Prestatyn's main strip and across the road from the Pontins resort Barkby is a long sandy beach. Divided up by a series of rocky breakwaters the beach is backed by a wide promenade. Much of the beach is backed by sand dunes and grassy areas, some of which are set up as picnic areas.

found this beach by accident after taking a wrong turn. how lucky we were !! there was a smallish beach to the left then another 2 bigger ones to the right bit like coves. all sandy and clean not overly busy for a bank hol. which we were very surprised at. also liked the fact the sea wasn't far out but not sure if that was due to time of day to be honest. anyway we had a lovely couple of hours.

Barkby Beach on the North Wales coast is one of Prestatyn's beaches which extends eastwards to the Gronant dunes. Visitors can enjoy the seafront promenade to stroll along, or water sports and sailing facilities available locally. This is not a swimming beach but great for fun on the sand.

Barkly Beach is a long, sandy beach. The beach has a rocky breakwater located at the entrance of the beach. A promenade runs along the beach - the ideal place for a walk without getting sand in your shoes! The choppy waters make it ideal for windsurfing and sailing. Jet-skiers are also welcome, although a permit is required.

Variety was ahead as I made my way round, so much to see and learn. I have broken down each stage of the walk on these pages starting today with stage one, Prestatyn to Talacre and Point of Ayr Lighthouse. The exact start point was Barkby Beach, Prestatyn. A wonderful start point to be honest, staright on to the top of the dunes.
